“LOVE IS LONG – SUFFERING”
One of the characteristics of the fruit of the spirit, is long – suffering. Every believer in Christ has this fruit, because we have the nature of God. Long – suffering is our ability to be patient with people as God is patient with us (Gal. 5:22, 23; II Pet. 3:9).
If the Lord tells us to love your enemies and do good to them that hate you, what does that tell you? It means that we have the ability to love and suffer long and forbear with people. However, we must develop that fruit in our lives (Lk. 6:27, 28; Rom. 5:5; Eph. 4:1 – 3).
Have you ever had a supervisor that was like an Egyptian taskmaster? Sometimes God will allow people like that in your life to help you to develop in your love walk. Love suffers long and is kind, even to the unkind, if you practice long suffering (I Cor. 13:4). Love never fails, so let’s not fail to love!
